Zellige Tiles

Zellige tile is one of the few wall tiles that instantly catch the eye. The distinctive uneven glaze, the way light shifts across its surface, and the depth of the colour make them one of a kind.

You can get the artisan look of Zellige without the maintenance with Zellige porcelain tiles. They deliver almost identical tonal variation, finish, and aesthetics of traditional Moroccan clay tile with the durability and demand of high-traffic bathrooms and kitchens.

Exclusively available at Royale Stones, Zellige tiles for walls sit within our wider indoor tile collection, which is built to perform where authentic clay simply cannot.

Zellige Porcelain Wall Tiles

Traditional clay is porous, inconsistent in thickness, and demands specialist installation. Porcelain zellige solves all three. The vitrified tiles are non-porous and dimensionally consistent with almost perfect recreation of the tonal depth and surface relief of Zellige.

For contractors and designers specifying at scale, the consistency of the wall tiles matters enormously.

Across our wall tile range, Zellige-effect porcelain tile is one of the most versatile options we stock. Other UK-favourites include fishscale tiles, hexagon tiles, and fluted tiles. They conveniently bridge the gap between a high-end finish and a commercial, practical product.

Zellige Tile Colours and Sizes

Our zellige tiles for kitchen and bathrooms are supplied in 100x100mm square format, the classic zellige proportion. This intentional format maximises the visual impact of the tonal glaze variation, creating a mosaic-like rhythm across a wall surface.

Some of the most popular Zellige wall tile colours at Royale Stones are:

  • Marrakech White

  • Marrakech Sea Water

  • Marrakech Ivory

Zellige Effect Tiles Applications

Zellige tiles are one of the best wall tiles for splashbacks, feature walls, and bathroom wall tiles. It earns its place as:

Zellige Tiles Kitchen

Zellige effect tiles truly shine when used as kitchen splashbacks. Behind the hob or across the run of units, the glazed surface creates incredible movement and depth. They look far more interesting than any flat subway tile without the pattern commitment of something geometric

It works beautifully in traditional as well as modern kitchens, and because it is porcelain, it wipes clean easily and does not absorb cooking splatters.

Zellige Tiles Bathroom and Wet Rooms

From full bathroom wall schemes to single accent wall behind a freestanding vanity unit, zellige effect tiles bring a spa-like quality to residential bathrooms. They are non-porous, water-resistant, and come pre-sealed, making them ideal for shower enclosures and wet rooms.

Pair zellige tiles for bathrooms with a complementary minimal floor tile to make the wall a centre of attention and complete the look.

Feature Walls & Living Spaces

A fireplace breast, a dining room alcove or a hallway niche, zellige wall tiles add warmth and texture to living spaces in a way that paint can never.

The reflective glaze picks up ambient light and shifts subtly through the day, giving the room a genuine visual interest without redecorating every few years.

See it in the Light Before You Decide

Zellige effect tiles look very different on the screen versus when you see them live. We would always recommend our customers to order a sample, buy Zellige tiles in the UK with the help of our experts or visit one of our showrooms to see the colour and glaze depth, and touch the texture before committing to their order.

What to Know Before You Buy Zellige Tiles

Here are some of our top tips for UK homeowners, interior designers, and contractors:

  • No Sealing Needed: Unlike clay Zellige, Zellige porcelain tiles are non-porous. They do not require sealing; only the grout needs to be sealed annually.

  • Intentional Variation:  Tonal differences of our zellige tiles are a deliberate feature, not an inconsistency. Mix from multiple boxes during installation for the most natural results.

  • Grout Joint Size: Keep the joints tight (1-2mm) with a fine and unsanded grout to preserve the handcrafted look. Wide joints will break the aesthetics of the tile.

  • Wall Tile First: Zellige tiles are designed primarily for walls. If you are considering a floor application, talk to our team about slip rating and suitability first.

  • Ease of Cleaning: A damp cloth and a pH-neutral cleaner are all you need. Avoid abrasive pads that can dull the glaze of the tile over time.
