Porcelain is man-made and deliberately designed to be extremely dense with a porosity of less than 0.5%, making it easy to clean and stain-resistant, with excellent foot grip.
Slip resistance in the UK is typically graded with Pendulum Test Value (PTV) and R-rating systems. Floor tiles must have a grade of 36 or higher for PTV, and R9-R11 anti-slip according to the R-rating for any tile you're considering, particularly for wet-area installations.
If you are after a more authentic look, natural stone tiles are a stronger alternative, especially the riven and tumbled surfaces that provide inherent grip due to their genuine texture and character.
